Students, faculty and researchers have unrestricted access to the PUC-Rio central library and the Scientific Technical Center library, as well as the CETUC library, specialized in telecommunications and related areas, and the Applied Computational Intelligence Laboratory library, specialized in neural networks, evolutionary computation and fuzzy logic. Access to the IMPA, IME, CBPF and COPPE/UFRJ libraries, all in the city of Rio de Janeiro, is also facilitated.
The PUC-Rio library system is fully computerized. It provides access to a great many databases and has several reference agreements with foreign institutions, which can be accessed via the PUC-Rio intranet. Remote access to collections of journals is also provided to students and professors by CAPES through the PUC-Rio library system and the universitys intranet, especially publications by IEEE, IET (former IEE) and Elsevier, of particular importance to the programs areas of concentration. The URL is www.dbd.puc-rio.br.
The program has over 200 computers and workstations connected in internal and external networks or clusters in the different libraries and in the professors offices and students rooms. They are equipped with the latest specialized software and the IT resources provided by RDC/PUC-Rio.
