The Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) is a private, non-profit institution that engages in the production and transmission of knowledge, based on respect for human values and ethics.
The Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE) and the Center for Telecommunication Studies (CETUC) strive for excellence in research, teaching and continuing education to train skilled professionals with the competencies to execute their professional duties.
The Postgraduate Program in Electrical Engineering at PUC-Rio was evaluated with the score 6 by CAPES in 2017.

To train highly qualified human resources in Electrical Engineering and develop outstanding scientific and technological research, generating innovative knowledge and high-impact solutions that contribute to the scientific, technological, and socioeconomic development of the country.

To remain as a program of excellence in Electrical Engineering, expanding its scientific and technological leadership through cutting-edge research, high-level education, and national and international cooperation, contributing to sustainable development in a scenario of constant technological, climatic, and social changes.
OBJECTIVES
1. To train highly qualified human resources, capable of facing technological challenges in Electrical Engineering, in a stimulating, dynamic, collaborative, and inclusive environment.
2. To produce and disseminate high-impact basic, applied, and interdisciplinary research with scientific, technological, social, and economic significance.
3. To carry out technology transfer and drive innovation, with an emphasis on R&D projects, internationalization, and entrepreneurship.

Master’s Degree:
Approved by the National Education Council (Ministry of Culture Directive 656, published in the DOU on July 27, 2017 – National Education Council / Higher Education Council opinion 288/2015 of July 8, 2015). Awarded grade 7 by CAPES for the four-year period from 2013 to 2016. Title awarded: Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.
Doctorate:
Approved by the National Education Council (Ministry of Culture Directive 656, published in the DOU on July 27, 2017 – National Education Council / Higher Education Council opinion 288/2015 of July 8, 2015). Awarded grade 7 by CAPES for the four-year period from 2013 to 2016. Title awarded: Doctor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
